Meet Malone

Howdy! I'm Malone. Somehow, I ended up in a local shelter, but my family didn't come looking for me there. The shelter people liked me and put me up for adoption. I would stand in the kennel and look over the wall as they walked around. They thought that was kind of cute. Adoptions were very slow at the shelter and I heard people talking about the economy a lot. Several of my friends were there because their families just couldn't afford them anymore. I knew I was in trouble when the shelter did a heartworm test on me and it came back heartworm positive. With all this talk of the economy, who was going to adopt me now? I started getting really worried when the shelter filled up, but HBAR came to the rescue and bailed me out of my predicament. They not only gave me the chance of a lifetime - they also are treating me for my heartworms. My new family will just need to keep me on heartworm preventative so I don't get into the same predicament again.

My foster mom thinks I'm pretty special. I've also been just as sweet as I can be at my foster mom's house. I am very, very smart. I do need additional training, though. With my smarts, I should be able to learn quickly. I'm not really hyper, but am full of energy. I love to run. A daily jog might be just the thing for me. I need some running room because I can run like a Gazelle. So far, my hobbies don't include chasing the rabbits and squirrels, but it is a lot of fun to watch them.

I've asked Santa to bring me a new home and family soon. Ideally, the family would be active and give me some quality exercise time. I have visions of a yard to romp in and maybe even enrollment in some special agility classes. When I watch the agility competitors, I just feel that given a chance, I might excel in one of the areas of the sport. Maybe that isn't the case, but I'd sure love to have a family that wants to work with me to see where my strengths lie. With my smarts, speed, and good nature, I just know there is a special home for me.
